As part of the ongoing drainage improvements project within Big Oaks MUD, there are two upcoming temporary road closures that residents should be aware of. The first road closure will take place on Thursday November 14th at Austin Oak Lane and Granite Knolls Lane. All vehicles should be removed from the subject area in red, prior to November 14th. The second road closure is tentatively planned to begin on Monday December 2nd, after the Thanksgiving holiday. This closure will affect the knuckle transition from Austin Oak Lane to Talladega Springs Lane, and will take approximately 7-10 days to complete. The residents located within the closure limits will be given access to their driveways, but the road will be closed to all through traffic. Residents located within the knuckle closure limits will be visited by a representative of the District’s Engineer, IDS Engineering Group, to discuss the closure and logistics.
We ask for your patience and understanding while we work to improve the drainage and resilience of our neighborhood.
A strong cold front with arctic air is expected to impact the state early next week. With temperatures expected to drop into the 20’s, it is a good time to refresh on how to prepare your pipes for winter weather.
If you experience any issues with pipe bursts please contact Municipal Operations & Consulting at 281-367-5511.
Big Oaks MUD has begun a drainage improvements project to enhance stormwater flow and reduce the risk of flooding within Big Oaks MUD. The project includes clearing and regrading the drainage channel along the western boundary of the District, to make room for a storm sewer relief system. There will also be modifications to the District’s existing storm sewer to add inlet capacity (see exhibit) within parts of the Twin Oaks Subdivision. Additionally During this time, there will be temporary road closures to ensure the safety of both residents and workers. Electronic message boards will be posted in advance of road closures to advise of upcoming disruptions to local traffic. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.
Please note that any damage to fences and/or landscaping on private property affected by the construction of this project will be fully restored once the project is complete. Please Contact our District Engineer’s office, IDS Engineering Group, to report any damage. Big Oaks MUD is committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring that your property is returned to its original condition.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve our neighborhood!
