Notice to Residents: Drainage Improvements, Temporary Road Closures, and Property Restoration

Big Oaks MUD has begun a drainage improvements project to enhance stormwater flow and reduce the risk of flooding within Big Oaks MUD. The project includes clearing and regrading the drainage channel along the western boundary of the District, to make room for a storm sewer relief system. There will also be modifications to the District’s existing storm sewer to add inlet capacity (see exhibit) within parts of the Twin Oaks Subdivision. Additionally During this time, there will be temporary road closures to ensure the safety of both residents and workers. Electronic message boards will be posted in advance of road closures to advise of upcoming disruptions to local traffic. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.

Please note that any damage to fences and/or landscaping on private property affected by the construction of this project will be fully restored once the project is complete. Please Contact our District Engineer’s office, IDS Engineering Group, to report any damage. Big Oaks MUD is committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring that your property is returned to its original condition.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve our neighborhood!

Streetlight Update

CenterPoint Energy has agreed to install streetlights within the boundaries of Big Oaks MUD along Bellaire from near FM 1464 to just west of Westmoor.

Several additional streetlights will be installed on Westmoor north and south of Bellaire. The streetlights will bring a long-needed enhancement to the Big Oaks communities and will improve traffic safety along Bellaire.

Work will begin sometime in Spring 2024.
